‘Friend Of The Sea’ Certification for Kollo Health’s Collagen Peptides

Our eagle-eyed customers may have noticed that our premium liquid marine collagen supplement from Kollo Health, now comes with a new badge. This is because the Naticol collagen we use has now earned a ‘Friends Of The Sea’ certification, indicating an accredited recognition of the quality and sustainability of the fish products they use.

Sustainability is something that we hold very dear at Kollo Health. We aspire to promote wellness and clean living to help people be their best selves, but this isn’t possible in a broken world soiled with waste and pollution. This is one of the reasons we chose Naticol collagen in the first place.

A little background on our commitment to sustainability

Naticol marine collagen is the foundation of Kollo Health as a collagen supplement. It is the main active ingredient that provides the collagen peptides that help stimulate collagen production in our bodies. During the development of our supplement, there were many options to use as an ingredient, but we chose Naticol because of its commitment to integrity, quality, and sustainability.

Naticol is produced from aquaculture-farmed fish, and it has earned numerous certifications and accolades for the quality of the product. The fish are healthy and treated well, and kept away from pollutants and chemicals that could intoxicate their bodies in any way. Once the fish are harvested, the collagen is extracted using enzymatic hydrolysis so that the collagen is not contaminated or damaged in any way. Nothing goes to waste, no toxic chemicals are used, and all operations are carried out with a focus on renewable energy and minimal waste.

These are all principles that are very close to our hearts at Kollo Health. Besides choosing Naticol as the source of our marine collagen, we also emphasise sustainable practices and operations throughout our company. Our efforts can be seen most clearly in our packaging, which is all cardboard and sealed with paper tape. Even the sachets that our daily dosages are supplied in can be recycled. A cleansed body and mind are not possible in a toxic, polluted world, so we aim to minimise our environmental impact, cut waste wherever possible and offset in any ways we can.

With priorities like these, it can be no wonder that we are so thrilled at this latest accreditation for our collagen.

So what is ‘Friends of the Sea’?

The Friend of the Sea (FOS) certification comes from a testing, inspection and certification company called RINA. They are committed to improving quality of life and building sustainable values for future generations. With their FOSA certification, they aim to guarantee the quality of fishery products and the sustainability of aquaculture operations. Their testing methods are extremely rigorous and it is no mean feat to earn the FOS accreditation - in fact, Naticol is the first collagen product to obtain the Friend of the Sea eco-label.

As the leading international standard for sustainable nutraceutical products from marine sources, the organisation aims to protect aquatic resources by employing sustainable practices in all human activities relating to marine environments. In short, they have made it their mission to clean up the way humans engage with the oceans. With a rising demand for marine collagen all around the world, we are proud that the providers of our collagen peptides are leading the way in setting the standard for sustainability in the industry.

Essentially, a Friend of the Sea certification means a company is doing it right. We are proud to offer a product that has this certification, and we are continuing to strive for higher levels of sustainability throughout our company.
