Why you should be using a collagen booster

At Kollo, we are the UK's leading liquid collagen sachet provider. Using safe and tested ingredients, our products have changed the lives of many people, which is demonstrated by our reviews. We use sustainable marine collagen in our boosters, which has a number of benefits over other types of collagen. Carry on reading to learn why you should be using a collagen booster.

What is a collagen booster and what are the benefits?

Collagen is the main structural protein in the human body and it's what gives connective tissues, skin, tendons, bones and cartilage structural support. As people get older, their collagen cells start to break down. A reduction in collagen production in the body causes wrinkles as collagen stops filling the spaces beneath the connective tissues, which holds up the skin and provide structure. However, collagen doesn't just keep the skin healthy, it also benefits the condition of hair and nails, as well as in less obvious places like the bones and joints. So daily supplements of collagen can keep you looking and feeling younger.

What is the main ingredient in Kollo's collagen booster?

A large number of collagen supplements are bovine, which means they are made from the skin and bones of cows. Collagen type 1 is the most easily absorbed by the human body, which is one of the reasons why, at Kollo, we believe in the power of marine collagen, which is only type 1. Marine collagen also has the benefit of being more inclusive as it can be ingested by pescatarians, as well as people who don't consume cow products for religious reasons.

Marine collagen is also a good choice of collagen supplement because it is more sustainable than other forms. At Kollo, our marine collagen is extracted via hydrolysis from fish products that would otherwise be wasted. In some cases, bovine collagen is also taken from waste products of the meat industry, but the general rearing of cows is still far more energy and land-intensive than fish.

Why choose Kollo for your marine collagen booster?

Apart from all the reasons stated above on the benefits of collagen, Kollo is beneficial to source your supplements from. There are a number of reasons for this:

Largest dose on the market

At Kollo, we've recently increased the size of our collagen sachets by 40%. This means that each sachet contains 10000mg of pure marine collagen, which is the first time this concentration has been available on the market.

Flexible purchase options

Many collagen sachet companies offer a subscription service which can be difficult to leave. At Kollo, we want to give our customers as much flexibility as possible. Not only do we offer a monthly delivery service for as long as you would like, as well as couples discounts for people who require two boxes every fortnight, but we also have one-off boxes available. Currently, our single purchase boxes are 'buy one get one free' for new customers when you sign up. This gives you enough collagen to see and feel the difference!

Sustainability

Not only is the marine collagen itself a more sustainable alternative to bovine collagen, we've also done our best to make our packaging fully recycleable. We have minimised the usage of plastic and opted for greener materials, without compromising the quality or the seal of the sachet. Our box is 100% recyclable too and it comes in a compostable parcel bag with compostable inserts.

Taste

Not only have we made our collagen boosters high in collagen and other beneficial compounds, but we've also made sure that they taste great. It's an easy supplement to take every day, so you'll soon enjoy the benefits.

Rewards scheme

By setting up an account with Kollo, you can start collecting points on every order. Once you collect enough points, you can redeem discounts on your next purchase with Kollo.

Free shipping

We know you'll want to start seeing the benefits of Kollo's collagen booster as soon as possible, which is why all orders are shipped via Royal Mail Tracked 48, for free, as standard. However, if you purchase more than 2 boxes of Kollo, you'll receive your order even earlier, with DPD next-day delivery.

The extra ingredients in Kollo

Although there is a large amount of marine collagen in each sachet, there are also added ingredients. These can help amplify the effects of the collagen and help you feel better for longer.

Vitamin C

Vitamin C is great for the skin as well as the body's general health. When ingested naturally, accumulates in the epidermis (outer level of the skin) and dermis alike (inner layer of skin). Vitamin C is an antioxidant, so it combats free radicals in the body. The skin and body are exposed to free radicals daily, in the form of UV rays, pollution, smoke, alcohol and more. These free radicals are unstable molecules within the body, which means they are missing an electron.

In order to get an electron and become a stable molecule, these free radicals will break up helpful cells within the body. An excess of free radicals in the body can lead to skin discolouration, brown spots, loose skin, and damage to blood vessels (this can further exacerbate the issue, as good blood flow means that free radicals can enter the blood and be removed from the body). Free radicals also reduce the body's natural ability to create collagen as some of the cells it damages will be collagen-producing ones.

Upping your vitamin C intake is a great way to combat this. Vitamin C is an anti-oxidant that can provide free radical molecules with the extra electron they need to be stable, and stop them from taking these from cells within the body. This is why we've added 100% of a person's daily recommended vitamin C to our collagen booster. Not only do you get the large dose of collagen and all the benefits this provides, but also a compound which will help combat future collagen degradation.

B Vitamins

As well as vitamin C, the Kollo collagen booster also contains B1, B5 and B6. The B vitamins all have different functions and work together to improve your general wellbeing. It can be difficult to get a varied enough diet to get your daily recommended amount of B vitamins, which can leave you feeling sluggish. This is why our collagen booster contains 70% of your daily recommended B1, B5 and B6.

Benefits of B1

Getting a good amount of B1 in your diet will help you feel less fatigued. It speeds up the body's ability to use carbohydrates as energy. As well as this, it also plays a key role in the function of the heart, nerves, and muscles.

Benefits of B5

Like B1, B5 also combats fatigue and helps you feel more energetic. It facilitates the breakdown of carbohydrates and fats for the body to use as energy. B5 also helps with manufacturing red blood cells. For the skin specifically, it benefits dry and dehydrated skin as it helps to restore natural hydration balance.

Benefits of B6

B6 is proven to help with muscle repair. It's also great for keeping your nervous system healthy and can even boost metabolism. For the skin, B6 is able to help combat hormone imbalances and can make a positive difference to acne flare-ups.

How does L-Lysine increase collagen levels?

L-Lysine is an essential amino acid which the body needs in order to build up more complex proteins. One of the proteins that L-Lysine is a building block for is collagen. More Lysine in the body means it can create more collagen, and benefit from all the discussed benefits. Lysine supplements have also been credited for reducing anxiety by blocking receptors that are involved with stress response and lowering the amount of cortisol (stress hormone) in the body.
