KOLLO – the collagen supplement you’ve been waiting for

Lockdown has wreaked havoc with routine, including health and wellbeing habits. Unable to hit the salons and the studios, Tani Burns is converted as she trials a new liquid collagen supplement

When, on the evening of Friday 20 March this year, I heard my hot yoga studio would have to close as part of lockdown, it was with a foreboding silent Bikram class.

It was fear of the inevitable waistline spread that got me, and lack of that daily social interaction. Health, happiness…but did I think to run out and panic-buy supplements, moisturisers and face oils? Sadly not. I had no idea that two months down the line my idea of make-up would be, well, whatever I could get away with on Zoom, and that any self-care treatments in the schedule would have to be left to the imagination. One month in, I allowed my other half to cut my hair. Not the finest of ideas…but hair will grow back, and necessity is the mother of invention, especially when it comes to creative styling.

However, as we all know, when it comes to beauty, it’s from within at the end of the day - and it’s what you put in that counts. I generally have a healthy, balanced diet and have been able to maintain a fairly rigorous exercise routine even in lockdown. But a little nudge in the right direction always helps, so when I heard about Kollo, a new collagen supplement brand launched by the (glowing) radio and TV presenter Jenni Falconer, I wanted in.

First things first – the flavour. It must be a symptom of growing up in the 80s and 90s, but things that do you good generally don’t taste very nice, I’ve found. Memories of cod liver oil and unnervingly vivid linctus…yet Kollo actually tastes nice. It’s nicely tropical and not too sticky and, when mixed with just 100ml of water, it goes down a treat before I set my mind to a day at the desk.

Secondly – I suppose this is really at the crux – the science. Kollo is a daily collagen supplement delivered in liquid form, containing all the essential amino acids and vital vitamins needed to ensure full-body health, encouraging healthy skin, hair, and nails, as well as slowing the signs of ageing, thanks to Type 1 marine collagen peptides. There are, of course, products on the market which attempt a similarly wide set of attributes, but Kollo represents a new commitment to the scientific method and a qualitative, results-based study.

What actually appealed to me most is the product’s focus on joint function and bone density – suggesting that rather than just the beauty market, Kollo Health is keeping an eye on the potential of sporting supplements. It’s a canny move. After all, if a collagen product is capable of providing noticeable benefits to an athlete, then the benefits of everyday application are almost entirely assured. I was once a daily long-distance runner but have since foregone all of that for lower joint impact activities like yoga and barre - so it was promising to hear what Jenni Falconer had to say on
the subject:

“As a keen runner, I am still reliant on the benefits of collagen for my joints, cartilage and cardiovascular system. I love it. It is a part of my daily routine and the minute you try it, you will want it as a part of your daily routine too.”

But what really explains the “radical” benefits of Kollo Health’s new product? Partially, the results are down to extensive human clinical studies, bearing out the intent to specially formulate a new collagen blend for faster absorption. This increase in efficiency means that the 10g of collagen contained in each Kollo Health sachet goes further than any other product currently competing for the same market. I’ve been taking Kollo daily now for over a month and intend to continue.

It’s the science that really speaks www.kollohealth.com
