The importance of vitamin B5

Vitamin B5 is one of the most essential vitamins that we consume. It is one of the eight B vitamins - and arguably, one of the most important! This guide will explain why it is so crucial, and what to do if you don't get enough of it.

What is Vitamin B5?

Vitamin B5 is also called pantothenic acid. Stores of vitamin B5 convert food into energy, and it also makes blood cells. It is unsurprising, then, that you won't get very far without adequate vitamin B5 intake!

How to get enough vitamin B5

Most healthy balanced diets include B5. It is present in most vegetables, including mushrooms, broccoli, and peas. You can also find B5 in dairy foods, eggs, lentils and meat. It's not an uncommon vitamin, but if for any reason your diet is limited, you might have a vitamin B5 deficiency.

Symptoms of a vitamin B5 deficiency

Symptoms of a vitamin B5 deficiency include fatigue, stomach problems, headaches, and bad muscle co-ordination. If you experience any of these symptoms, it is best to see a doctor and voice your concerns as soon as possible.

What can vitamin B5 supplements help with?

Even if you do have enough vitamin B5, supplementation can help with various other illnesses. These include, but are no way limited to acne, celiac disease, depression, headaches, and PMS. Sufficient levels of vitamin B5 may alleviate some of the symptoms of these illnesses or may even help them go away completely.

Vitamin B5 should be used with other medications and methods, but supplementation can be an extra tool to combat these illnesses.

Other uses of vitamin B5

Vitamin B5 is also used in some shampoos and soaps to help people have healthier skin and hair. There are some reports that vitamin B5 can prevent grey hairs, although this hasn't been proven. Some topical B5 creams are used to treat eczema and other skin conditions.

How to get a vitamin B5 supplement

Kollo, which is a natural collagen supplement, contains vitamin B5 as well as various other vitamins. By taking Kollo, you are protecting yourself against a variety of illnesses.
